Curriculum at the Secondary Level

At the secondary level children become adolescents. Equipped with the sense of trust, autonomy, initiative and industry, they begin the search for their own personal identity. It is the period of stress, strain and bewilderment not knowing what to do, and how to behave on their own. Our curriculum plays a very constructive role in helping adolescents through the identity versus confusion crisis, and make them properly balanced in their emotional reactions. Responsibilities assigned independently as well as collectively and gauging & assessing their reactions, conduct and accomplishment schedules help prepare children to be better individuals and eliminates the tendencies of getting despondent or vulnerable.

It is a crucial phase when important decisions about future education and professional career are made and this reflects the learners intellectual, emotional, social and physical maturity. The level of maturation of a student is closely linked with his/her learning abilities and process of development. The end–product in different subjects is defined in the curriculum for each subject. Acquisition of intellectual skills, manual skills, symbolic skills, communicative skills & life skills – talking, discovering, searching, creating, researching and exploring – democratic culture, spiritual and human values of equality, justice, freedom, secularism, sensitivity to other's feeling and well–being, qualities of humanity, sympathy, empathy, honesty, courtesy, tolerance, forgiveness, goodness, patience, diligence and dutifulness, respect for human rights and dignity, universal integrity associated with peace and harmony, experiences from local to global community are unified and organized in an integrated manner. The curriculum at the secondary and higher secondary level aims at development of sensory, social, spiritual, moral, emotional, cultural, sentimental and aesthetic qualities so as to empower the learners to lead a better and successful life.
